Quinton de Kock scored a fine century as South Africa completed a three-match one-day international series against India with four tight victories at Newlands on Sunday.
India opted to play and limited South Africa to 287, one goal short of 50, but the visitors narrowly lost their chase as they had 283 runs with four remaining in the innings.
Deepak Chahar netted 54 penalties from 33 balls to bring India close, but they lost the last three wickets and added five runs as the home side bundled a lower order.
De Kock’s 17th ODI century improved South Africa’s total, his 124 came from 130 balls, he added 134 for the fourth wicket and Rassie van der Dussen struck 52 from 59 balls.
David Miller added 39 points at the end of the innings, but South Africa may have felt they were 30 behind with 214 3s in the 36th. Prasidh Krishna was selected 3-59.
