Former Dutch international John Van Thipp resigned as coach of Greece on Friday after failing to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar next year.
The Greek Football Association said in a statement that the 58-year-old former Ajax winger resigned five weeks before his contract expires on December 31.
Since the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Greece has not participated in major competitions. Van’t Schip took over in August 2019 and tried to transfer to the younger generation of players, but these changes failed to have a significant impact.
