The Super Eagles captain preferred offense in Tuesday’s friendly game against the Indomitable Lions, and Uzoho also has a goal position.

Head coach Gnot Rohr confirmed that Ahmed Moussa, Francis Uzoho and Valentin Ozoenwafo will represent Nigeria against Cameroon in the international friendly on Tuesday.

After training at the Wiener Neustadt Stadium on Monday, the German tactician revealed the major changes he would notice in the second game against Tony Consecao’s team.

In the second half, Captain Musa, who replaced Kelechi Iheanacho, received a nod to lead the Super Eagles offense, while Uzoho of APOEL FC will replace Maduka Okoye of Sparta Rotterdam as the goal post.

Due to an injury, William Trost-Ekon will not be able to participate in the match against the five-time African champions. In his absence, Galatasaray’s Ozonwafo is expected to become the defense of the three-time African champions.

“The observation is positive because some players from Nigeria are not suitable for the first game. They are recovering well now and our body should be better,” he told the Super Eagles media Finish sports.

“There will be some changes in the team, Francis Uzoho will be scoring, [Ahmed] Moussa will start because he is healthy and we lost Troost-Ekong so Valentin [Ozornwafor] Will come in for the first time.

“Some games are for testing players who haven’t played too many games, and new organizations may try different things. We also want to win games because we have never won in Austria after four games.”

For the 67-year-old player, the team’s progress is more important than the results achieved by the hosts of the 2021 African Cup of Nations.

“The most important thing is not the result, the most important thing is to keep improving and learn to work,” he continued.

“We have 16 players who cannot come, 5 central defenders, 2 defensive midfielders [Joe] Aribo, [Frank] Oneka and all the forwards can’t come, the winger, [Samuel] Kalu, Henry [Onyekuru], [Victor] Ottoman, Simi [Nwankwo] with [Umar] Sadiq also because of the playoffs.

“This is a different camping, but we now have some experience. We are interested in the new players and what they can do in this game against Cameroon.”

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguíza separated the two teams in the first game on Friday in the 37th minute.
