The former France international strongly rejected the request for a new appointment from the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Former Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele (Claude Makelele) has denied reports that he has been appointed as the football ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Congolese Football Federation announced the appointment of the 48-year-old player to this role, which has now attracted the attention of the former France international.
Makelele has revealed on social media that he had been consulted on this proposal but never agreed to be the country’s football ambassador.

However, he expressed good wishes for the future work of the African countries and explained that he has been giving strong support to the Congolese national team.
“After I was recently appointed by the media as Congolese football ambassador, I must formally deny it,” Makelele posted on Instagram.
“It is true that the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) contacted me, but I did not agree or make any promises.
“I have been (and will continue to) follow the development and achievements of the Congolese national team. I extend my support to them and wish them all the best.”
Makelele was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, formerly Zaire, but left the country with his parents at the age of four and came to France in 1977.
The midfielder successfully became a professional football player and played for many top European clubs, including Chelsea, where he spent five years.
Makelele won many accolades during his time at Stamford Bridge, including the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
Before joining the Paris Saint-Germain club, he played in Real Madrid, Celta Vigo, Nantes and Marseille, and ended his career.
Since his retirement, he has been engaged in management work and is currently one of the heads of the Chelsea loan department.
