Former England goalkeeper David James believes Solskjaer should choose Three Lions goalkeeper Dean Henderson as Manchester United’s long-term number one.
The Manchester United coach faced a dilemma in the goalkeeper situation, and David De Gea has been under pressure since Henderson returned to Old Trafford after impressing on loan at Sheffield United.
Both goalkeepers will participate in the 2020 European Cup, but Solskjaer is expected to choose a full-time current player for the role of next season, and Manchester United may profit from those who lose the game in the summer.

“I will go to Henderson. He is 23 years old. In the Premier League, he has clearly proven that he can perform for Sheffield United and now for Manchester United,” James said the goal.
“Some people have become accustomed to playing for Manchester United, which is slightly different from playing for Sheffield United, but he already has capabilities and potential far greater than what David De Gea has to offer.
“De Gea is not a bad goalkeeper, it’s not about that. I just think from the manager’s point of view that you are paying attention to the direction of the club.
“De Gea is extraordinary for Manchester United, but it is very difficult to maintain this level of performance. I think that under Dean Henderson, Manchester United has a chance to move on.”

Spain coach Luis Enrique will face a choice between the 30-year-old and Unai Simon of the Athletic Club as his first choice for the European Championship.
This highlights how far De Gea has fallen since being regarded by many as the best goalkeeper in the world, but James believes he can regain his best form.
“He can go back there. He is 30 years old, so he has enough time to regain his previous form,” said the former Liverpool and Manchester City goalkeeper.
“According to experience, I entered the England team at the age of 36 and participated in the World Cup at the age of 39. I left Liverpool at the age of 29, but my career got better from the age of 30 to 39.
“De Gea has enough time and obviously he can stay healthy.
“Will he be the best in the world again? There he met fierce competition from people like Edson, [Gianluigi] Donnarumma, Allison and [Manuel] Neuer is still only 35 years old. “
