Frank De Boer has confirmed that Valencia’s shot terminator has been replaced by AZ’s Marco Bizzo and appears in his 26-man lineup

Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen was excluded from the 2020 European Cup after testing positive for Covid-19.

Cillessen was initially included in Frank De Boer’s final 26-man lineup of the European Championship, alongside other goalkeepers Maarten Stekelenburg and Tim Krul.

The Valencia star was originally scheduled to start the first group match against Ukraine on June 13. He was diagnosed with the coronavirus last week and has now been replaced by AZ’s Marco Bizo.

What did you say?

De Boer explained his decision to abandon Sillersson before the upcoming warm-up matches against Scotland and Georgia in the Netherlands, insisting that he cannot take any risks because the 32-year-old is recovering.

“I notified Jasper of my decision this morning,” the head coach said at a press conference on Tuesday. “Let me first say, I think this makes Jasper very unpleasant.

“But I had to take the risk. As everyone knows, he tested positive for corona. Therefore, he missed an important part of the preparations.

“We don’t know how long it will take him to recover to 100% health. I don’t want to take risks in this regard.

“We are on the eve of the European Championships and I want certainty, but I think it is for Jasper. I think Jasper is very sad, and in fact I have the greatest relationship with it.

“But I do think it is reasonable. In any case, he will not participate in the first game, and you don’t know how it affects your body. I now have three healthy players available for me to use.”

Who will be the first goalkeeper of the Dutch team?

In the absence of Sillerson, Ajax goalkeeper Steklunberg and Norwich City’s Crull are likely to compete for the number one jersey, and Bizo will be the substitute.

Krull participated in all three matches of the Dutch World Cup qualifiers in March, when Sillerson was out of the game due to injury, and Steklunberg had to settle for sitting on the bench.

Who else is in the Dutch team?

This summer’s game is scheduled to start on June 11, Oranjes will be in Group C with Ukraine, Austria and North Macedonia.

After meeting with Ukraine, De Boer’s team will have four days to prepare for the conflict with Austria, and then end the schedule of the match against North Macedonia on June 21.
