Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Mato Grosso and Goiás states have been selected to host hurriedly rescheduled matches
Brazil’s chief of staff, Luis Ramos, confirmed on Tuesday that Brazil will host the 2021 America’s Cup in four venues across the country.
CONMEBOL revealed on Monday that the South American Championship will return to Brazil, which is also the venue for the last event of 2019.
Due to the severity of the coronavirus pandemic and the continuing social unrest in the latter case, Argentina and Colombia have both withdrew from their hosting duties and made last-minute changes.

“Brazil’s America’s Cup is confirmed,” Ramos wrote on Twitter.
“The continuity has been won. Brazil is the host of the South American Libertadors, not to mention the state and Brazil championships. It cannot close the door to such traditional games.”
Which cities will host the America’s Cup?
Ramos also revealed that Brazil’s four states will accept the game, and the game will be held behind closed doors.
The Federal District, including the national capital Brasilia, Mato Grosso, Rio de Janeiro and Goiás, will welcome the best players in South America from June 13th to July 10th.
The choice of these venues is largely to avoid the top Serie A stadiums that will continue throughout the Copa period.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many states have also publicly refused to host the America’s Cup, and South America is currently the worst-hit region in the world.
Although Ramos did not specify which stadiums were selected, the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro may only host the finals. The two teams are located in one or more of the other three states.
Who will participate in the 2021 America’s Cup?
The America’s Cup was originally scheduled to be held in 2020, with 12 participating countries.
The pandemic forced the game to be postponed for 12 months, and then the guest countries Australia and Qatar withdrew due to schedule conflicts in 2021, leaving the 10 member states of CONMEBOL.
These countries are divided into two groups: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay are in Group A, originally scheduled to play in Argentina; while Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela form Group B, against Colombia.
The four teams in each group will be eligible to enter the quarter-final stage, and the first round will end on June 27-28.
