Royal Challengers Bangalore are yet to open their account in the Women’s IPL. The campaign is turning into a disaster with each passing match. RCB have lost their fifth match in a row and have nowhere to hide.

RCB was 15-20 runs short as they could score 154 runs on a good batting wicket. Ellyse Perry was again the star with the bat for the Bangalore franchise. Perry led the way with a flawless 67. Shikha Pandey dumped her on day 29, and Perry later made the Delhi side pay. Richa Ghosh stepped in with a fantastic cameo of 37 from 16 balls, and the pair quickly added 74 runs. Because the pitch was moving slowly and RCB had lost Smriti and Devine early. But, Ghosh appeared and altered the momentum. Bangalore scored 82 runs in the last 6 overs to give them a total where they could challenge the opposition. Shikha Pandey starred with the ball as she took 3 wickets conceding just 23 runs.

Despite the close nature of the game, Jonnassen remained extremely calm. She ended it with a six and a four to leave RCB without a victory after five games. The ground went absolutely silent after her heroes with the bat. Following the defeat, RCB’s chances of being among the top three are gone, albeit mathematically, there may still be a chance. RCB had a much better bowling performance, but 150 was still a few too few. By getting Shafali’s first ball, Megan Schutt gave them the ideal start, but Lanning and Capsey counterattacked, with the latter looking menacing.

Lanning and Rodrigues established a partnership when Capsey was dismissed. The game was on the line when Rodrigues top-edged a sweep, but Kapp and Jonassen led their team to victory without flinching. Kapp’s stretch in getting her over the finish line when a mix- up nearly resulted in a run-out was very crucial in hindsight. In retrospect, that was the moment when the game changed.
