WPL 2023: Here’s what the Orange Cup race looks like post DC vs GG

There have been a lot of shuffles in the top 10 Orange Cap holders as the match between the Gujarat Giants and Delhi Capitals ended. All those who were in the top 10, have continued to be in the top 10. However, their positions have been slightly shuffled. Nonetheless, there have been no changes in the top 2.

Lanning continues to be at the top

Despite a dip in form, Meg Lanning continues to hold the coveted Orange Cap in the Women’s Premier League. In her latest match, she scored a struggling 18 runs off 15 deliveries before being dismissed by Sneh Rana, the skipper of the Gujarat Giants.

Nevertheless, Lanning has taken her season run tally to 239 after six matches, which is an impressive feat. She is now 34 runs ahead of her Australian teammate Ellyse Perry, who is in second place.

Shafali Verma gaining pace

Shafali Verma, the young Indian batting sensation, continues to be the highest run-scorer among the Indian players in the league. She has scored a total of 187 runs so far and holds the third spot in the overall rankings. Shafali also tops the list of most sixes hit whereas Meg Lanning tops the chart in the number of fours hit.

Alyssa Healy is one short of her tally and has dropped down one position as Shefali replaced her as the new number 3 on the list.

Harleen Deol breaks into the top 5

Harleen Deol, another Indian player, is hot on her heels and occupies the joint fourth spot after scoring a patient 31-run knock in her match against Delhi Capitals. She has taken a huge leap from 9th place to make a spot for herself in the top 5.

Harmanpreet Kaur and her teammate Nat Sciver-Brunt have both dropped 2 places to be 7th and 5th respectively. However, Sciver-Brunt has replaced teammate Hayley Matthews to be the top of the list of tournament MVPs. Matthews continues to maintain her with 7th place 168 runs in the tournament.
