Will the general county cricket membership work?

Last week I made a decision that was unthinkable a few years ago.I have decided Is not Participate in the four-day championship game between Northamptonshire and Yorkshire starting on Sunday. I booked a B&B, if there is no Covid situation, I believe I will participate.

However, some things have changed.

Obviously Covid: sitting on the ground, in your own little bubble, unable to move around, unable to chat with friends and family supporters. I like to take photos. A hundred photos, all taken from the same angle, may be as boring as your friend’s defocused vacation photos. Therefore, the experience of participating in the competition is less than before, and it may be less than in the future. Maybe.

Then there is the cost. I think the ticket is £15, so the ticket for the whole game is £60. In this case, the cost of three nights in a bed and breakfast is 160 pounds, and the round-trip petrol cost is about 30 pounds. A total of 250 pounds.

Instead, I can sit at home and watch streaming media on YouTube. This is the decision I made. The unpleasant game experience is the key factor, plus online options. For others, cost arithmetic may be a reason for not participating…maybe even a reason for not participating in a home game.

Where does this make us in the future without Covid? Will the county continue to broadcast live? If they give up, it will be an unpopular decision. Will attendance (not as scary as you think some people in the European Central Bank are) will start to be affected by streaming? Will the county membership be further reduced?

Can counties use large amounts of viewing data by placing advertisements on their live and free streams? This is definitely not my field, but do these numbers have any financial significance? I really want to know what people think. I believe it can work because the main content they promote is themselves. There is also a cricket game.

For many years, I have had an idea that the membership of ordinary county cricket should be 50% higher than that of ordinary single county membership. You will designate a county to receive 50% of the fee, you will become a full member of the club, and the other half will be separated from the rest, which will give you the right to participate in any competition and enjoy membership facilities.

Therefore, I can participate in the Sussex v. Kent case while vacationing on the South Coast. Of course, I can do it no matter what, but no matter what, the interests of the members are a huge attraction to me.
