Weird scenes as Rilee Rossouw walked off immediately after a DRS was taken by LSG

Rilee Rossouw played his first game for Delhi Capitals against Lucknow Supergiants which happened to be the first of the season for both sides. The South African batter was batting well during the chase but became a victim of a pretty weird dismissal.

In the 12th over of the LSG innings, he was facing Ravi Bishnoi. Rossouw played a premeditated sweep shot by moving slightly towards the off stump. He missed it and the ball hit his front pad. The bowler went up in a huge appeal that lasted for a few seconds. But the umpire remained unmoved and kept his finger down.

Bishnoi managed to convince the skipper KL Rahul to opt for the DRS. The replays suggested that the ball had hit Rossouw’s pad pretty adjacent to the stumps. It seemed initially as if the review was taken for an LBW. But as the replays moved along, it became clear that the ball hit the back of batter’s bat while he was completing his bat swing.

The ball lobbed up behind the wicketkeeper and Kyle Mayers took an easy catch at short third man. Rossouw knew it from the beginning that he was caught but somehow, the umpire couldn’t spot the connection of the ball with the bat. The South African started to walk off as soon as the DRS was taken.

It appeared as if he started to walk thinking that he would be given out LBW as he was plumb in front. But the replays made it clear that it was a caught dismissal. The whole scenario was pretty weird. Rossouw departed after scoring 30 runs off 20 balls.

Earlier, LSG batted first after losing the toss and scored 193/6 courtesy of 73 from 38 by Kyle Mayers. DC’s chase was rattled early by Mark Wood as they failed to recover. In the end, the David Warner-led side lost the game Despite a fighting half-century from the captain.
