WATCH: Umpire Aleem Dar cheekily tries to interrupt Shahnawaz Dahani’s celebration

Multan Sultans speedster Shahnawaz Dahani unleashed an interesting parade celebration after a breakthrough in Match 25 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 on Friday (February 18).

Dahani dismissed Quetta Gladiators’ right-hand batter Noor Ahmad and went on a sprint towards the opposition dug-out where a legendary figure gave him a nod of approval.

That legend was none other than West Indies’ Sir Vivian Richards, the Gladiators’ mentor, who gave a thumbs up to the young pacer’s expression in which he folded his hands in front of the great man and thanked him for presumably some advice given pre- match.

But there was a twist in the tail as while Shahnawaz Dahani tried to reach near the boundary holdings to express gratitude towards Sir Viv, standing umpire Aleem Dar amusingly tried to interrupt his sprint.

Aleem Dar tries to stop Shahnawaz Dahani’s celebration

The incident took place after the first ball of the 14th over in the Gladiators’ run-chase. With the game nearly sealed in Sultans’ bag after posting an insurmountable 245/3 and reducing Gladiators to 118/6 at that point, Shahnawaz Dahani further put a dent on their hopes by sending Noor Ahmad back.

This is when he kicked off his celebrations and began to sprint towards Sir Viv. But just as the right-arm quick was trying to pick up pace in his run, he found Dar trying to jokingly stop him mid-way. Somehow the pacer still evaded the umpire and did his thankful gesture for the cricketing legend in Gladiators’ camp.

Dahani added one more scalp to his kitty for the day and finished with impressive figures of 2 for 22 in Sultans’ mindboggling 117-run win that has secured their entry into the playoffs.

Sultans are placed firmly at the top of the PSL 2022 points table with eight victories in their nine matches, including a solitary defeat.

It’s a campaign of which Shahnawaz Dahani has been a key part, taking 12 wickets from his eight outings for the franchise.
