WATCH: Rashid Khan’s special sacking of pal Mujib ur Rahman in opposition camp

Afghanistan Wrist spinner Rashid Khan is known around the world for his amazing ball handling, but is rarely seen as an effective low-level power hitter.

A popular global T20 star in leagues around the world, Rashid has quickly developed into an impressive Willow aggressor. The right-handed hitter has a T20 career batting average of 143.32 and has more than 1,000 hits to his name.

Suggestions from all corners suggest that his former IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has never done justice to Rashid’s batting potential by sending him on certain stages to try and maximize innings.

Rashid Khan appears to have gotten the chance in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), where he plays for Adelaide Strikers. A case in point was the striker’s recent BBL 2021-22 game against the Brisbane Heat on Wednesday (January 12).

Rashid was sent to start the “Power Surge” phase in the forward innings against the Heat in Gabba, Brisbane. Stepping into No. 5, Rashid fired a couple of huge sixes on his willows that sailed well on the ropes.

Rashid Khan’s enterprising cameo ends in bizarre dismissal

Facing right-arm seaman Xavier Bartlett, Rashid Khan hit two consecutive six-pointers. The first, a lucky one, hit the top edge of the Rashid Willow and went as far as possible over the wicketkeeper’s head.

The second, however, was more convincing as the batsman threw Bartlett’s slow ball out of the line for a fine stroke over the long boundary.

However, just as Rashid set his sights on more important cameos, he was fired in a very strange fashion by fellow Afghan Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Delivery arrives at the next start of “Power Surge”. To make the most of his time in the middle, Rashid moved to make room for himself, clearly intending to open the offside zone.

But Mujib was up to the task as he followed Rashid’s pass out of Rashid’s arc, hitting his back leg and hitting a stump.

The wry smile on Mujeeb’s face can be seen the moment he gets the big fish, which contrasts sharply with the confused look on Rashid Khan’s face.
