Leg side stumps are tough and we’ve seen some goalkeepers struggle to influence those under pressure in key moments of the game. Quinton de Kock got rid of his opponent – Rishabh Pant’s brilliant performance in the first ODI of the three-match series between India and South Africa on Wednesday.
India appeared to be cruising in a 92-run partnership with Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli in a 297-run chase, but when Keshav Maharaj cleared Dhawan, he dealt a clear blow to the Proteas. Kohli completed his half-century, his fifth in his last six ODIs, but Tabraiz Shamsi was quick to get rid of him, further denting India’s pursuit.
Shreyas Iyer was caught, passing a nick to the wicketkeeper and it was Rishabh Pant’s onus to advance India’s chase. The goalkeeper batsman, whose limited career has not taken off like his long career at international level, looked to be holding up well until a sensational job from De Cock made him better contact.

With Andil Phehlukwayo’s medium pace, de Kock moved up to the stump to keep the Indian batsman from hitting outside the crease. Phehlukwayo fired a shot into Pant’s leg side from around the wicket and de Kock, as sharp as ever, moved past neatly, calmly collecting the ball and completing the bail with Pant still turning.

Handstands are reminiscent of Sarah’s best handstands ever, and these handstands gained a lot of attention on social media around 2018. De Cock’s handstand changed India’s run and Pant’s wicket resulted in a feeble tail that couldn’t really gather.
