17-year-old right-arm pacer Ahmed Khan has achieved remarkable speed and infuriated feathers in the ongoing U19 World Cup in the West Indies. During Pakistan’s Group C tie with Papua New Guinea (PNG) on Saturday 22 January, the fast bowler spoke about the damage he could cause with the leather in his hands.
After opting to bat first, Papua New Guinea found itself in all kinds of trouble due to Khan’s speed and venom. In his first spell, Khan had numbers 5-1-10-3 as he ran past PNG’s top order without a fuss. First, he shrugged off two openers, Christopher Killapart and Boyo Ray, but he created a dream for right-hander Peter Carrojo.
Karoho started his knock with Khan’s four-pointer in the third ball of the ninth inning. To his dismay, in the fifth game of the same race, Carojo was told the way to the pavilion. Khan threw a full-length pitch, and the right-handed batter attempted an all-around hit on the leg side. Carojo attempted a cross-hit but got stuck.
He missed the ball completely and his stump went for a walk. With the dismissal, Papua New Guinea lost their third wicket with 9.5 runs of 29. Meanwhile, the Swabi-born Khan managed to get Pakistan off to a flying start in the power game.

Pakistan got off to an impressive start to their World Cup journey as they managed to advance to the quarter-finals of the big event. Khan started his campaign with three wickets against Canada in a warm-up match at Sandy Point.
He has since scored two wickets against Zimbabwe and led his side to a 115-point victory over Diego Martin.Although he can’t get a wicket against AfghanistanKhan was frugal as he conceded just 11 of the six pitches he pitched.
