West Indies batsman Andre Russell was out in a bizarre way in the second match of Friday’s doubles match in the 2022 Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Russell died while trying to pick up a deceptively simple single during the Dhaka Ministers Group’s opening match against the Khulna Tigers at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
In the last ball of the 15th inning, Russell slapped offside and started single-handedly.Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who was patrolling the short threesome, tried to drop the stump at the end of the striker to get Mahmoudura go out. Tamim found his target, but the Dhaka captain had no trouble finding his feet.
After that, in a rather hilarious twist, the ball bounced off a stump on the striker’s side and onto a plank on the non-striker’s side. Meanwhile, Russell was caught dozing off and caught without a crease. The Jamaican was jogging past before running over to surprise him. The playback on the big screen also confirmed this.
Here’s a video of Andre Russell being weirdly thrown at BPL 2022

Russell started his knockout with a single before beating Pereira with a huge six in the long zone. Just as he was about to help Dhaka to a formidable result, he went off the field. The dismissal did not have much of an impact on Dhaka as they scored 58 points in the last five rounds. Dhaka had six runs with 183 on the board after being put at the bat first.
Mohammad Shahzad had a quick 27-ball 42 before Tamim Iqbal played half a century of patience. In the end, Mahmudullah’s 20-ball 39, adorned with two fours and three sixes, took Dhaka over 180.
Kamrul Islam Rabbi was the Tigers bowler’s choice as he picked up three wickets despite running 45 overs. Mahedi Hasan was unable to make a breakthrough, but he kept checking the scoring, dropping just 24 points in his four-round quota.
