An otherwise high-intensity second ODI between India and South Africa turned into a short comedy show in Parr on Saturday (Jan 19), a terrifying scuffle. Rahul Kuala Lumpur Stranded at the same end as Rishabh, but the hosts failed to get the run out.
Rahul and Pant stared at each other at the end of the striker after making a ludicrous error trying to sneak past the single.
Meanwhile, the Proteas made horrific attempts to catch the pitch but never completed what should have been a straightforward run.
The incident occurred in the last ball of the 15th inning of India’s first inning. Facing left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj, Pant clipped the ball on the other side of the positioned short midfielder.

Pant misjudged how far the ball was from the short midfielder – South Africa captain Temba Bavuma’s left – and hesitated before returning to his crease. But by then, the train was already on its way to Rahul, as the Indian substitute captain was halfway up the pitch and continued to walk towards the end of the striker.
Rahul expected Pant to continue his run to his finish, but the wicket batsman returned to his mark, and now he and Rahul stood there, the latter presumably having given up on his fate.

But this is where South Africa shows their hilarious mistakes. At the end of the bowling, Maharaj never collected Bavuma’s fine pitches cleanly. The ball passed his hand and reached the midfielder, who also fouled trying to get the ball.
This gave Rahul time to sprint and get back inside the crease at the bowling mark. Rahul entertained two runs that didn’t count, and Pant resumed his innings at the other end.
The last thing India could take at that stage was another wicket, having just lost their in-form openers Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli in a row.
The Indians are down 1-0 in the three-match series after a humiliating defeat in their opening match at Pal on Wednesday (Jan 19).
