Warriorz’s Kiran Navgire surprises everyone with her bat

It has only been two days since the Women’s Premier League started and the league is already making Netizens go crazy. The league is trending on every social media platform and has been a huge success on and off the field.

Last night, it was UP Warriorz’s Kiran Navgire, who created the buzz on social media platforms when she walked out to the batting crease without a sponsor’s sticker on her bat. It is not very uncommon for batters to bat without sponsor stickers, but there was something special about Kiran’s bat that got the Netizens buzzing.

Chasing a total of 170, UP Warriorz were reduced to 20 for 3 in 3 overs and needed a miracle to save their game. Kiran Navgire, who had come in to bat when the team was 19 for 2, took the matter into her own hands to stabilize the team.

While she was batting, the on-air commentators pointed out something peculiar about the player’s bat. It didn’t have a sponsor’s logo to it, but something way more special. Navgire’s bat had ‘MSD 07’ written at the back of it with a black marker. Kiran went on to score 53 off 43 balls, and fans all over started to compare her with her idol, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

While speaking to the broadcasters, Navgire said, “Watching India win the 2011 men’s Cricket World Cup, there was one massive name on the team: Mahendra Singh Dhoni. I started following him in 2011, and I didn’t even know that there was something called women’s cricket. I watched men’s cricket and played with boys in my village and started liking cricket.”

Even after the struggles of the top order, UP Warriorz were able to safely sail home, owing to the heroes of Grace Harris and Sophie Ecclestone lower down the order. Player of the Match Grace Harris, steered the team home with an unbeaten 59 off 26 balls, with 7 fours and 3 sixes.
