according to a Report Kohli informed his players of his decision to relinquish the Test captaincy immediately after attending a post-match press conference in Cape Town on Friday (Jan 14) to decide the third Test of the series, The Indian Express reported.
Kohli also asked his team-mates to do a little favor and not reveal the news outside – which is still exposed by the Indian Express. The report cites a knack for team meetings, Kohli said, “I’m asking for a small help, please don’t share it with anyone outside the locker room.”

A day later, Virat Kohli himself chose to make the news public, ending his seven years of success at the helm.
“After 7 years of hard work, hard work and perseverance every day to lead the team in the right direction. I have done this with absolute honesty and nothing is left. Everything has to stop at some stage Come down, it’s now for me as India’s Test captain,” Kohli wrote in his post that marked the end of an era.

Despite the recent controversy and speculation at odds with the BCCI regime led by President Sourav Ganguly, Kohli especially thanked the Indian board for their support and then two of his biggest confidants: MS Dhoni and Ravi Shastri.
