In an intense game at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians defeated the hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad to secure their third win of the season. Cameron Green finally picked on his form as he scored 65 runs in 40 balls and emerged a hero for his team. However, the outcome of today’s game has not had much impact on the Orange Cap list, with the list inflicting just one change.

A bolstering cameo from Tilak Varma

Middle-order batter Tilak Varma has been a dependable asset for the Mumbai Indians this season. The left-hander has shown determination, patience, and aggressiveness, all at once for his team. He was prolific with the bat even today as he smashed a quickfire 37 off 17 balls. His inning included 2 fours and 4 gigantic sixes. He curated a 56-run partnership with Cameron Green for the 4th wicket, taking the larger portion of it, and played a huge role in putting MI’s total to 192.

After slipping out of the top 10 in the Orange Cap list, Varma has found himself back credits to his inning today. He now has 214 runs in 5 games and is currently at the 7th spot in the Purple Cap list. To note that currently, he is the only uncapped player on the list.

Faf retains the top spot

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s skipper Faf du Plessis has continued to hold the top spot in the Orange Cap list. KKR’s star batter Venkatesh Iyer holds the second spot. The list also has some big names such as David Warner, Virat Kohli, Jos Buttler, Shubman Gill, etc. Apart from Tilak Varma , other uncapped batters who have impressed this season are KKR’s Rinku Singh and GT’s Sai Sudarshan. Both were a part of the Orange Cap top 10 list once but have faded recently. They will be looking to make a comeback in the list soon.
