Updated After SRH vs DC Match 34

In a nail-biter of an encounter, Delhi Capitals defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 runs to secure their second win of the season. SRH needed 13 runs to win off the final over, but Mukesh Kumar was on-point with his yorkers, as he gave away just 5 runs in the over and steered his team home comfortably in the end. However, after today’s low-scoring game, there is only one change in the Orange Cap, and that too isn’t in terms of position but numbers.

Warner’s failure causes Delhi’s collapse

In a very rare to happen instance this season, Delhi’s skipper David Warner failed to deliver in his team’s game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad tonight. Warner was looking in fine form and was timing his strokes well before he handed a simple catch to Harry Brook off Washington Sundar’s bowling.

Before getting out, Warner had scored 21 runs in 20 balls with the help of 2 fours and a six. This has put Warner’s tally of runs at 306 in 7 games at an average of 43.71. However, his strike rate still continues to be a problem. Warner is currently striking at 119.53 and has the lowest strike rate among the top 10 players in the Orange Cap race. However, even after failing to go big tonight, Warner has managed to hold his Number 3 position in the Orange Cap list. He is only behind Faf Du Plessis and Devon Conway, who are Number 1 and Number 2 respectively.

No other changes

The Orange Cap list has not inflicted any other changes after tonight’s encounter. Faf Du Plessis is still the Orange Cap holder, with 405 runs. He has a massive lead of 91 runs from Devon Conway, who is in the 2nd position with 314 runs in 7 games. Faf’s opening partner, and RCB’s poster boy Virat Kohli is also on the list with 279 in 7 games. Kohli is currently in the 4th position on the list. Kyle Mayers of Lucknow Super Giants is on the 10th position with 243 runs in 7 games.
