The match between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals on Friday night in Jaipur was an absolute display of clinical cricket by the Titans. After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Gujarat Titans put up a sensational bowling performance to restrict the Royals to a paltry 118. Gujarat Titans’ bowlers were right on the money from the word go and never allowed the Royals batsmen to get going. Rashid Khan picked up figures of 3/14 while Noor Ahmad finished his spell at 2/25 to make sure that Rajasthan Royals never get the requisite momentum.
In reply, Gujarat Titans’ openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill started off in a flurry and put up 71 runs in just 9.4 overs. Saha looked in sublime touch and made batting look easy. Gill, on the other hand, continued his rich vein of form and looked set for yet another big score.
Hardik Pandya then came to the crease and belted an unbeaten 39 off just 15 balls, striking at an incredible 260, to take the Titans home with 9 wickets in hand and 37 balls to spare. Pandya’s knock was an absolute delight to watch, as he played with complete freedom and punished the Rajasthan Royals bowlers to all parts of the ground.
The win was a crucial one for the Titans, as it helped them stretch their lead at the top of the points table and put one foot in the playoffs. For the Royals, on the other hand, it was another disappointing loss, as they have now lost four of their last five games and have slipped down to the 4th spot in the Points Table. Rashid Khan was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant spell with the ball.
