After today’s doubleheader, all 10 teams have played one game each and the league organizers will start doling the Orange Cap from tomorrow. A lot has happened in the two games that were played today which has caused a lot of changes in the Orange Cap list.

Tilak Varma saves Mumbai, Ruturaj maintains Rank 1

Tilak Varma saved the Mumbai Indians from humiliation as the team lost too many wickets and it seemed they will not be able to get past 150. Varma played an unbeaten inning of 84 from 46 deliveries and took Mumbai’s score to 171. The highlight of Varma’s inning was the helicopter shot he hit to Harshal Patel on the final ball of Mumbai’s innings. Despite that, Mumbai lost the game as Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli were brilliant during RCB’s chase.

However, Ruturaj Gaikwad has continued to maintain the top spot that he took in the first game. He will have an opportunity to add more to his tally as Chennai Super Kings take on Lucknow Super Giants at their home ground tomorrow.

Shuffles in the top 5

Virat Kohli is back in form and was brilliant in RCB’s chase against MI. Virat Scored 82 runs not out in 49 balls and has now taken the third spot in the Purple Cap rase. His opening partner and RCB’s captain Faf du Plessis was also impressive as he scored a quickfire 73 from 43 balls before being removed by debutant Arshad Khan. Faf has now taken the fifth spot on the list.

LSG’s Kyle Mayers, who was second on the list till yesterday, has dropped down a couple of spots after Virat and Tilak’s brilliance and is now fourth on the list. Shubman Gill has also slipped out of the top 5 and now ranks at number 6.
