Updated After KKR vs RCB Match 9

In today’s game, Kolkata Knight Riders made an unbelievable comeback to defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 81 runs. At one point, RCB were in control of the game but Shardul Thakur stole the show away from the RCB. However, after today’s encounter, the Orange Cap race has not seen many shuffles.

Faf and Kohli fail to go big

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s skipper Faf du Plessis started his innings on a very positive note. When he smashed Tim Southee for consecutive boundaries in the fourth over, everyone thought that Faf was in his zone and would definitely go big tonight. However, Varun Chakravarthy absolutely cleaned him up in the sixth over, ending his innings on just 23 runs in 12 balls. Despite failing to go big, Faf has made his way back into the top 10 in the Orange Cap list. Faf now ranks at the sixth spot with 96 runs to his name in 2 games, at an average of 48.

Faf’s opening partner and RCB’s poster boy Virat Kohli wasn’t much different either. After going big in the first game, Virat’s rocket crash-landed today when Sunil Narine flabbergasted him with a magical delivery. Before getting out, Virat only managed to score 21 runs in 18 deliveries. Virat now has 103 runs in the tournament and has stepped up by 5 places to be the new number 4 on the Orange Cap list.

Shardul surprises with a blistering knock

When the game seemed to have been clenched by the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Shardul Thakur came in and just stole the show away. His flurry of boundaries took KKR to a total of 204 runs in 20 overs. Shardul scored 68 runs in just 29 balls and completely turned the tide of the game. Even though he is yet to get an entry in the top 10 of the Orange Cap, his inning was the sole difference between KKR and RCB today.

Ruturaj and Mayers continue their domination

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Kyle Mayers have continued their domination and the only batter that has even come closer to these two stars is Punjab Kings’ skipper Shikhar Dhawan. The trio sits at the top and does not seem to budget. Ruturaj acquired the top spot in the first game and has continued to hold the rank even after 9 games in the tournament.
