Updated After CSK vs LSG Match 6

Chennai Super Kings completed a comfortable victory over Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs today. With Chennai’s victory, the Purple Cap has seen a lot of shuffles, with some surprising names entering the top 5 list.

Wood continues to be on top

Mark Wood was very expensive in today’s game against Chennai Super Kings as he leaked 49 runs in his 4 overs. However, this has not marred his wicket-taking ability. The English pacer finished with 3 wickets and has continued to maintain his top position at the Purple Cap.

A surprising number 2, is Mark Wood’s LSG teammate Ravi Bishnoi. The leg-spinner may not have made big headlines like his teammate but has continued to take wickets for Lucknow Super Giants. He finished with figures of 3 for 28 in today’s game and now has a total of 5 wickets to his name.

Moeen Ali cracks into the top 5

Yet another surprising entry into the top 5 is Chennai Super King‘s all-rounder Moeen Ali. Ali, who bowls part-time off-spin, ended up with figures of 4 for 28 against the Lucknow Super Giants today and played a crucial role in Chennai’s win. He brought Chennai back in the game by taking back-to-back wickets when LSG batters seemed to be taking the upper hand. With this performance, he now ranks fourth in the points table.

Avesh Khan has also jumped one spot after taking just one wicket today and is now sixth on the table. Rajvardhan Hangargekar went wicketless today and leaked 24 runs in his 2 overs. As a result, he has slipped down to the seventh position. Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh continue to be in the top 5 whereas Trent Boult, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Shami make up the bottom 3.
