Top 7 Indian talents to watchout for in the Women’s IPL


The inaugural edition of the Women’s IPL will kickstart on 4th March. The WPL is going to be a game changer for women’s cricket with many cricketers getting a platform to showcase their talent. Let us have a look at the top 7 cricketers who could take the tournament by storm:

V Sneha Deepthi

V Sneha Deepthi will play for the Delhi Capitals in the WPL. She is a hard hitter and can score quick runs in the powerplay. She plays for the South Zone in the domestic competition and scored 114 in 5 matches at a staggering strike rate of 162.85 in the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20s in November last year. Sneha pairing up with the explosive Shafali Verma can be the most explosive opening combination in the Women’s IPL. V Sneha Deepthi is the only active mother in the Indian domestic circuit.

Disha Kasat

Disha Kasat will don the red and golden jersey as she will be playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Women’s IPL. She is a batting sensation from Vidarbha and has been a loyal servant for them. She is a natural stroke maker scoring runs all around the ground. Disha scored 300 runs at a strike rate of 114.50 in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy. In case Mandhana gets injured she is the perfect opening option for the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise.

Ashwani Kumari

Ashwani Kumari will play for the Gujarat Giants in the WPL. She is a finisher with the bat and can chip in with some crucial overs of fast seam bowling. She is very flexible with her batting position as she can play in the top order as well . with many options at the top order of the Giants Kumari might have to play the role of a finisher in the side. In the Senior Women’s T20 Competition earlier in the season, Ashwani scored 237 runs at a strike rate of 135.42, second only to Jasia Akhtar’s 138.57 among players with at least 150 runs in the competition.

Shreyanka Patil

Shreyanka is an off-spinner who will play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise in the tournament. She has a high arm action and generates a lot of dip and turn off the wicket. Though she is inexperienced, the bowler has shown enormous maturity in domestic tournaments. Playing for Karnataka, she picked up 8 wickets across three T20 tournaments in the domestic season. The economical off-spinner also picked 20 wickets in the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy. She is handy with the bat and can score crucial runs in the lower middle order for RCB.

Amanjot Kaur

Amanjot Kaur is a fearless allrounder similar to Hardik Pandya. She will play for the Mumbai Indians in the WPL. She can score quickly and hits the ball hard and also bowls medium pace. On her India debut, Amanjot Kaur played a calm knock when she walked in to bat in a tricky situation. She initially played for Chandigarh in the domestic competition but later moved to Punjab. In the domestic season, she scored at a healthy strike rate for Punjab and claimed eight wickets in the Inter-Zonals.

Jintimani Kalita

Kalita is the only player from Assam in the tournament. She is just 19 years old but has shown extreme maturity. When Assam was struggling for 4-56 in the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy, Kalita played a patient knock of 78 off 114 balls to help the team put on a competitive total. She will play for the Mumbai Indians franchise in the tournament. She bats left handed and can bowl medium pace which is a deadly combination to have. With age by her side, the youngster will be an important member of the Mumbai franchise in the years to come.

Kiran Prabhu Navgire

Kiran Prabhu Navgire is the first Indian player to score 150 plus runs in an innings in a T20 match. The dynamic batter scored a whirlwind knock of 76-ball 162 against Arunachal Pradesh for Nagaland. After her record breaking knock, she has been inconsistent the bat. But on her day, she can tear apart any bowling lineup. She will play for the UP Warriorz franchise in the first ever edition of the Women’s IPL.
