Tom Moody’s Bold Predictions Ahead of IPL 2024 Auction: Cricket Insights Unveiled

As the much-anticipated IPL 2024 auction approaches on December 19 at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena, former Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody has made some striking predictions that have sparked excitement among cricket fans. All his predictions have come true.

Moody’s predictions include a surprising forecast that Australian batting maestro Steve Smith might not find any takers in this year’s auction. Additionally, Moody believes that Mitchell Starc is poised to break the all-time auction record, currently held by Sam Curran at Rs 18.50 crore.

Another prediction from Moody suggests that Shahrukh Khan from Tamil Nadu could join the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), following his release from Punjab Kings for approximately Rs 9 crore. Moody also anticipates that the upcoming World Cup will significantly impact the players’ values in the auction, leading to potentially big paydays for some.

The IPL 2024 auction is set to feature 333 cricketers, including 214 domestic players and 119 overseas players, including two representing associate nations. Among them, 116 are capped players, 215 are uncapped, and two are from associate nations. With 77 slots up for grabs, there is a cap of 30 for overseas recruits.

In terms of finances, the Gujarat Titans, last year’s runners-up, boast the most substantial purse of Rs 38.15 crore, followed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad with Rs 34 crore. The Kolkata Knight Riders have Rs 32.7 crore, Chennai Super Kings Rs 31.4 crore, Punjab Kings Rs 29.1 crore, Delhi Capitals Rs 28.95 crore, Royal Challengers Bangalore Rs 23.25 crore, Mumbai Indians Rs 17.75 crore, Rajasthan Royals Rs 14.5 crore, and Lucknow Super Giants Rs 13.15 crore.

The auction will see players with the highest reserve price of INR 2 crore, with 23 players showing interest, while 13 have set their base price at INR 1.5 crore.

Moody’s bold predictions have added an extra layer of excitement and anticipation to what is already expected to be a dramatic and eventful IPL 2024 auction.
