Steve Smith to register himself for the 2024 IPL auction

Steve Smith in a recent interview said that he will be registering his name in the 2024 IPL auction. He said that he would be happy if any team bids for him in the auction.

Steve Smitha former player of the Delhi Capitals, clarified the rumors that he will take Kane Williamson’s place at Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023, claiming that he did not put himself in action. After Williamson hurt himself in the IPL opener, speculation has been swirling over whether Smith will return to the greatest cricket competition. During Gujarat Titans’ five-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings, Williamson attempted to block a six from Ruturaj Gaikwad but instead fell awkwardly on his right leg.

Williamson’s participation in the IPL 2023 is in doubt, therefore anticipation for Smith’s return to the competition is high. Smith, who last competed in the IPL with the Delhi Capitals in 2021, stated that he is unsure about his eligibility.

Steve Smith said about playing in the 2023 IPL

“I don’t know if I’ll qualify, I didn’t even put myself in the auction. So I don’t think there’s even a possibility. So, maybe next year, we will see where we go,” Smith on Star Sports.

“I think just coming up against the best players around the world, the learning experiences from each of those, sharing dressing rooms with guys like MS Dhoni, Jos Buttler, guys like that, It’s been incredible, and the IPL has just been unbelievable since its start 15 years ago and it just continues to grow and grow.”

The batter will be playing in County to get ready for the WTC final and the Ashes series.
