5000 for Rohit

Rohit Sharma, the captain of Mumbai Indians, achieved a significant milestone in today’s game against Chennai Super Kings as he completed 5000 runs for his franchise, becoming only the first player to do so for the Mumbai team. Starting the match just 17 runs short of the 5000-run mark, Rohit completed the feat with a six off Tushar Deshpande. Rohit has been associated with Mumbai Indians for 12 years and is already the highest run-scorer for the franchise. In his 189 innings for the team, Rohit has an average of 30.23 and has hit one century and 33 half-centuries.

Rohit has now become only the third player in IPL history to score 5000 runs for a single franchise. The other two players are Virat Kohli, who achieved the feat for Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Suresh Raina, who did it for Chennai Super Kings.

Rohit has amassed over 5,901 runs in the IPL, at an average of 30.22 and a strike rate of 129.65, making him one of the top run-scorers in the history of the tournament. With only 99 more runs, he will become only the 4th batter in the IPL to complete 6,000 runs, joining the likes of Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina Shikhar Dhawan, and David Warner. Apart from Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard is the second-highest scorer for the Mumbai Indians side with 3,915 runs.
