RCB all-rounder Will Jacks suffers a muscle injury, ruled out for the entire season

Disappointing news for the RCB camp and the fans as Will Jacks has been ruled out of the entire IPL season owing to a muscle injury. The Royal Challengers Bangalore bought Will Jacks at the IPL 2023 auction held in December 2022 for INR 3.2 crore, which is equivalent to approximately £320,000.

How did the injury happen?

During England’s second ODI against Bangladesh in the first week of March, Jacks suffered a minor muscle blow in his left thigh while fielding, after which he had to fly back home to receive proper treatment. However, later scans revealed that the injury was not as minor as once thought and would put Jacks out of cricketing action for at least the next two to three months.

Jacks’ injury has now ruled him out of the entire tournament, which is a significant blow for both him and RCB. The team will now have to find a replacement for Jacks before the start of the tournament,

Who can be the replacement?

Reports claim that the RCB team management is trying to get in touch with the Kiwi all-rounder Michael Bracewell as a potential replacement for injured Jacks. Bracewell had entered the auction in December at a base price of Rs. 1 crore but was unsold back then .

However, Bracewell performed exceptionally well against India earlier in January this year and proved everyone who did not bid on him wrong. If Bracewell is signed by RCB, it will be his first time playing in the IPL. This will be a new experience for him , but he is a seasoned professional with a good track record in domestic and international cricket.

RCB’s first game of the season is against the Mumbai Indians on April 2, and it will also be their first game at their home ground, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, since May 2019. The team will be hoping to start the season on a high note and put up a strong performance in front of their home crowd.
