Cricket is a game of uncertainty. Even a great can suffer for years. Virat Kohli is the unbeaten king of the cricket world. He has created a different type of hype. He created some unbelievable records. He reached some excellent milestones. But this cricket icon also suffered from some off-form for almost two years. In that period, he faced a lot of criticism. In the 2022 Asia Cup, he scored his much-desired century against Afghanistan. Afghan spinner Rashid Khan talked about this moment.

Virat’s Struggles:

Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli doesn’t need any words to define his greatness. Whenever he is in strike, it is pleasing to watch him bat. His stylist cover drive is nothing less than an art. Over the years, Kohli has showcased his batting excellence in front of the world. Many times, Team India benefited from his masterclass. He broke and created so many records, but this cricket great also struggled in his career.

In the 2022 IPL season, Virat Kohli, the tournament’s leading run-scorer, faced a slump, struggling to find his usual form. Across 16 matches, he managed 341 runs with an average of 22.73. Despite this, Kohli’s unwavering work ethic stood out. He answered critics with a remarkable T20I century against Afghanistan in the 2022 Asia Cup, ending a challenging two-year period marked by inconsistent form. The century played a pivotal role in reaffirming Kohli’s prowess and alleviating doubts about his position in the Indian batting lineup. His resilience and comeback silenced skeptics and showcased his enduring cricket excellence.

In the international cricket, he failed to score any century. He struggled even in front of small teams. He failed to execute plans. At that time, he also stepped down from captaincy. Criticism was coming out in every way.

Rashid Khan’s Words:

After struggling for almost two years, Virat Kohli scored the most-desired hundred in the Asia Cup in 2022 against Afghanistan. By his classic century, he shut all the critics. His magnificent knock was a treat to cricket lovers across the globe. Recently, Afghan spinner Rashid Khan talked about this.

He said, “During the IPL, we had a match the next day against RCB. In the nets, I was just counting the time Virat was out there. To be honest, he batted for two and a half hours. Main aisa hairan hua (I was so shocked). Our nets were finished and still, he was there batting. The next day, he scored around 70 against us. His mindset is very positive.”

Later he added, “When he bats, he plays such wonderful shots that to me, he doesn’t appear to be out-of-form at all. The expectations are much more. People want him to score a hundred every second game. If you look at his Test match innings, he has got through the tough times, batted well, then somehow he has gotten out for 50, 60, or 70. If there was any other normal batter then everyone would have said that he is in form but with Virat, the expectations are such that they only want centuries.”

After a long time, Virat Kohli came back to the T20 format. After almost 14 months, he is back in the format. He played the last T20 international match in the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinal against England. He will be back in the second T20 match against Afghanistan.
