Quinton de Kock withdrew from South Africa after receiving knee orders

South Africa asked all players to bend their knees for the remainder of the T20 World Cup, and then star goalkeeper and batsman Quinton Decock dropped out of the lineup dramatically to face the West Indies.

South African Cricket announced a few hours before the Dubai Super 12 match against Windies that it would take this stance before each game to “unite as one against racism.”

De Cock had previously chosen not to participate in an anti-racist posture, and it was revealed that he could not participate in the game due to “personal reasons.”

CSA added in a statement: “South African Cricket has noticed the personal decision of South African goalkeeper Quinton Decock not to’kneel’ before the game against the West Indies on Tuesday.

“According to the instructions of the CSA board of directors on Monday night, all players are required to “kneel their knees” against racism in a united stance.

“This is also the global stance taken by athletes against racism in sports norms because they recognize the power of sports to bring people together.

“After considering all relevant issues, including the freedom of choice for players, the board has made it clear that it must see the team take an anti-racism stance, especially considering the history of South Australia.

“The board’s view is that while diversity can and should be reflected in many aspects of daily life, this does not apply to anti-racism positions.

“Before deciding what to do next, the board of directors will wait for further reports from the team management. All players should follow this instruction for the rest of the World Cup.”

Before the start of the game, the South African team led by South Africa’s first permanent black captain, Temba Bavuma, played without De Cock and suffered a knee injury.

Many teams knelt on one knee in this game, a posture that has become a feature before participating in many other sports.
