After the World Cup, teams play according to their usual schedule. After having a disappointing season in the World Cup, Pakistan Cricket Board has gone through a lot of changes. New captains were selected after Babar Azam resigned from the captaincy. Shan Masood was selected Shan Masood and Shahin Afridi took charge of the white-ball format. After the tournament, Pakistan and Bangladesh are locking horns in Australia. In between this, PCB Announced new player development programs.
Player Development Program by PCB:
Pakistan Cricket has had downtime in recent times. A few key players were out of the team in the World Cup. In the tournament, their performance was not great. After starting the tournament with consecutive wins, they lost the flow in the mid-way. After the tournament ends, PCB has made a few changes. After Babar Azam stepped down from the captaincy, PCB opted for split captaincy.
Recently, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced a new cricket development program. They announced new player development programs. PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf discussed this initiative with the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Board Mohammad Hafeez and announced this new venture.
They invented this program for the betterment of Pakistan cricket. The board collaborated with DHA to provide land and create 5 new sub-academies in Islamabad, Quetta, Bahawalpur, Lahore and Peshawar. The second initiative is they are introducing a specialized training program for national players. The third one is the board will support the U-19 crickets financially with skill training and will be groomed as professionals.
Mohammad Hafez on the Program:
Those initiatives will be beneficial for the budding cricketers of Pakistan. Academies, financial support, and grooming can shape their career in a better way. With those initiatives, Pakistan Cricket can see a new start. On this initiative, Pakistan Men’s Team Director Mohammad Hafeez opened up about this. He said, “We are delighted to announce three development programs with an aim to groom our young players, hone the skills of national players via specialized camps, and activate the sub-academies for year-round training camps.”
Then he added, “This initiative will help our players get ready for the highly competitive cricket at the top level. It is the need of the hour to work on the skills of our players and provide them with world-class facilities. We will also target interior Sindh and erstwhile FATA for further development programs so that the talent in far-fetched areas can also be turned into international products.”
