PCB said in a statement: “As part of the PCB COVID-19 agreement, a rapid antigen test was conducted on the remaining 15 West Indies players and 6 player support staff on Thursday morning. All 21 members of the West Indies Tour Group All returned negative test results. Therefore, Thursday’s T20 International (T20I) went on as planned.”
The statement added: “However, considering the welfare of the team and the limited resources provided to ODI by the West Indies, it has been agreed that the series is part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League and will be postponed and rescheduled for June 2022. Early in the month.”
The ODI series is part of the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup Super League, so PCB agrees that it is fair that the West Indies have a chance to send their best players. The statement continued: “This will provide the West Indies with equal opportunities for their best players to participate in the World Cup qualifiers.”
All West Indies players who test negative will leave Pakistan after the third T20I. However, the affected members will stay in Karachi to complete the isolation. “The West Indies players who returned negative results after Wednesday’s PCR and today’s rapid antigen test will leave Pakistan after tonight’s game. Those who test positive will complete their quarantine in Karachi before finalizing travel arrangements. They can reunite with their families in time and participate in Christmas celebrations,” the statement said.
At the same time, Pakistan won the third T20I with seven wickets and swept the West Indies. Chasing a challenging 208, the host easily returned home with a score of 18.5, and their opening game increased by 158 points with a score of 15.1.
