Nikhil Chopra on the Transition from Under-19 to International Cricket

Former India cricketer Nikhil Chopra spoke about Virat Kohli’s easy transition to international cricket from the U-19 level. He pointed out how Kohli scored tons of runs in domestic cricket. On the Khelneeti podcast he explained why major of the youngsters fail to make the transition .

While talking about the same, Chopra spoke about Virat Kohli and the also mentioned Unmukt Chand who was very talented but could not do well at the first-class level. India’s young cricketers are once again in focus following Indian cricket team’s fifth triumph in the Under-19 World Cup. Yash Dhull became one of those young captains to lead his famous side to victory and joined an elite list. On Khelneeti Podcast Nikhil Chopra said, “The transition phase from U19 to Ranji Trophy is very important. From a boy, you are joining the men’s league. Your U19 phase is over and now you have to translate that performance at the Ranji Trophy level.”

Kohli led India to victory in the 2008 U19 World Cup and Unmukt Chand scored a hundred in the 2012 final against Australia as India claimed the title again.
