New Zealand legendary physics Sir Chad John Hadley is 70 years old today. He is widely regarded as the greatest cricket player representing his country and one of the best fast bowlers of all time. Hadley made his international debut in 1973 and retired in 1990 after a brilliant career.
The speed bowler represented the New Zealander in 86 tests and 115 ODIs, claiming 431 and 158 wickets respectively. He scored 36 five-pointers and nine ten wickets in the cricket test, averaging 22.29. Hadlee is the first test cricket player to score more than 400 test wickets. He maintained the record for most wickets in Test matches until Kapil Dev took over him in 1994. In addition to the four fifty-year-olds in a day, Hadley also has two test hundred people.
Hadley also has a staggering number in the A-level and A-level cricket matches, scoring 1,490 and 454 wickets in 347 and 317 games, respectively. With a bat, he scored 12,052 points in first-class matches and 5,241 points in A-level cricket matches. Hadley hit 14 hundred in the first-class cricket match and 1 in the A-level cricket match. Hadley was the first cricket player to score 1,000 runs and 100 wickets in ODI, and was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2009.
After defeating India to win the World Test Championship (WTC) final, Hadley recently praised the New Zealand team. To quote him: “This is a special day in the history of New Zealand cricket. It is a day to celebrate the great achievement of winning the first World Test Championship. This is an exciting test match and the whole process is full of twists and turns… This is BLACKCAPS. A dominant performance against a very good Indian team.”
