Social Justice and State Building (SJN) released a report on the behavior of South African cricket against its players and revealed that a large number of people involved were discriminated against because of their race. According to reports, many people involved in CSA management, including Graeme Smith, Mark Boucher and former captain AB de Villiers, have shown racial prejudice against some players.
Former South African spinner Paul Adams testified that his teammates called him “bl*** s***” and Mark Boucher admitted to singing a song involving racial slander. He apologized for these remarks and mentioned that many white players were unprepared for the rule after apartheid. He mentioned their lack of understanding of sensitive content.
The report also highlighted a large number of incidents involving player selection, in which team captains or players were accused of racial discrimination. After Mark Boucher retired prematurely due to an eye injury, Tammy Tsolekler is expected to take over because he has signed with the team.
It turns out that he has only represented the team in 3 test matches before AB de Villiers Was given the responsibility of the goalkeeper. Haroon Lorgat, then CEO, mentioned that De Villiers pressured him to get Elgar selected. The Ombudsman found that de Villiers had spoken to Lorgat before Zondi and ignored the national selection policy. He did so “only to ensure that black players were not placed in a position where he thought they needed more experience,” the report reads. “The only reasonable conclusion is that Mr. de Villiers unfairly discriminated against Mr. Zondo on the basis of race.”

In response to these allegations, AB de Villiers mentioned that he only made decisions based on the best way for South African cricket and never based on race. He also expressed his support for the SJN report because he hopes that the sport will provide equal opportunities for every participant.
In another part of the report, SJN also confirmed that in the investigation conducted after the 2015/16 domestic T20 match was received after the allegations of match-fixing, no clear evidence was found to show that black players became unfair targets.
