Mumbai Indians are all set to face the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their first game of the season tomorrow. However, ahead of the game, there were suspicions surrounding Rohit Sharma’s health ahead of the team’s game. MI’s coach Mark Boucher has cleared the air around his fitness.

Will Rohit play tomorrow?

Mumbai Indians’ Head Coach, Mark Boucher, has confirmed that the team’s skipper, Rohit Sharmaand pacer, Jofra Archer, are fit and available to play in their upcoming IPL opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday. There had been some concerns and speculations regarding Rohit Sharma’s availability for the opening match, as he had reportedly missed the captains’ photo shoot in Ahmedabad. However, Boucher has dispelled all rumors and confirmed that Rohit is fit and ready to lead the team in the highly anticipated fixture.

“Yes, Rohit is fit. He has trained the last two days and is 100 percent ready to go. I think he didn’t feel particularly well that morning and just as a precaution, we told him to stay at home,” Boucher said at the pre-match press conference on Saturday.

“There are a lot of photo shoots the boys have had to do. He’s not had a lot of time to himself so we thought it was better,” he added.

Archer is fit too

With Jasprit Bumrah unavailable for the IPL opener due to personal reasons, the Mumbai Indians will be without their ace pacer. However, the team will be bolstered by the return of England’s Jofra Archer, who himself is coming off a long injury layoff. Jofra Archer’s availability is also excellent news for Mumbai Indians, as the pacer is known for his raw pace and ability to pick up wickets consistently. With both Rohit and Archer fit, the team will have a significant boost and will be looking to start their IPL campaign with a win.

Speaking about Jofra Archer, Boucher added, “Jofra is good, he is 100 percent ready for tomorrow. He didn’t train today, it was an optional training session. He felt that he was ready to put the spikes on tomorrow. We are very happy with his progression since he has been with us. He’ll be playing tomorrow.”
