Meet Pakistan U19 Seaman Awais Ali

Coming from the land of fast bowling, Awais Ali was born in Sialkot in December 2005. The 16-year-old started his journey with Pakistan’s U-19s early. He made his U-19 tour debut at the recently concluded UAE Youth Asian Cup.

Awais scored six wickets in three matches at that tournament, including a best of 2-for-9 against Afghanistan U-19s, before entering his inaugural U-19 World Cup for Pakistan. He also scored 2/43 against key rivals India and 2/27 against Sri Lanka in Dubai.

Awais Ali unleashed his wrath on the hapless Zimbabwe batsman in Trinidad and Tobago’s Diego Martin after warming up against the West Indies in their pre-match match against Canada.

The 16-year-old fast bowler impressed the youth selection committee with his impressive performances in the Pakistan U-19 Domestic One Day Cup, earning him call-ups for the Youth Asia Cup and the World Cup. Awais scored 34 wickets in the match.

Awais Ali has big dreams of representing Pakistan on the international stage and said that his current favourite cricketer is brisk walker Hasan Ali and his favourite cricketer is legendary all-rounder Imran Khan.

Awais, who is currently in his first year of college, said his favourite Pakistan Super League (PSL) team is Islamabad United.
