Meet Pakistan U19 World Cup star Haseebullah Khan

One of the original but talented factory of cricketers from Pakistan cricket, Haseebullah Khan is one of the players to watch ICC U19 World Cup 2022 in the West Indies.

Khan started the match with a 10-best tie in their first Group C match against Zimbabwe’s Pakistan U-19s on Monday (Jan 17).

The left-handed hitter hit 135 of 155 shots to help his country go 315/9 and they later defended their title by a huge margin of 115.

Haseebullah Khan scored top marks in his first appearance at the Youth World Cup, announcing that he has reached the big stage where Pakistan fans, management and selectors hope he continues to dominate the batting charts from here.

Born in Pishin in March 2003, Haseebullah Khan has long been seen on the tour of Pakistan as one of the sport’s future stars. However, the batsman is also a good enough goalkeeper but new to competitive cricket.

The 18-year-old has yet to make his senior A-level or first-class debut, but so far has been shining in age group cricket. Khan won his first U-19 match for Pakistan at the recently concluded UAE Youth Asian Cup.

Before that bout, he had a breakout inning in the domestic U-19 competition. Facing the central Punjab U-19s, the graceful left-handed batsman struck 133 overs.

In a clip recently posted on Twitter by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Haseebullah Khan revealed his ambition to represent Pakistan on the international stage, especially in cricket tests.

The 18-year-old also named his favourite cricketer, with his current favourite being Fakhar Zaman and all-time favourite Mohammad Yousuf.

Khan, who completed his standard at the English Grammar High School in Islamabad, also has a favourite Pakistan Premier League (PSL) franchise in the Quetta Gladiators.
