Markram credits Klassen, Sharma as SRH pull a victory from jaws of defeat

Abhishek Sharma kept playing his strokes while the other Sunrisers Hyderabad batters fell around him, giving the impression that he was playing on a different surface than the rest of his colleagues. Rahul Tripathi was the only other player for the longest time to have reached two digits apart from him and he fell for 10 runs, while Abhishek has reached the 60s. Heinrich Klaasen eventually joined the party. With competent assistance from Abdul Samad and Akeal Hosein, the South African gave SRH a strong finish. SRH scored 197/6, with Hosein scoring 16 off of 10 and Klaasen going unbeaten on 53 off of 27. Samad scored 28 runs off 21 balls.

Mitchell Marsh, one of the DC bowlers, distinguished out with stats of 4/27 and is currently contributing significantly with the bat for the hosts. Phil Salt and Marsh put together a 112-run partnership off 66 balls for the second wicket. At the time it appeared as though Delhi Capitals were cruising in the pursuit as both players reached half-century. The visitors are now clearly ahead thanks to the spinners Mayank Markande and Abhishek Sharma who helped SRH battle back.

SunRisers Hyderabad defeated Delhi Capitals by 9 runs to snap a three-match losing streak. Thanks to Mayank Markande’s 2 for 20, DC were held to 188 for 7 as they were chasing 198.

Markram Speaks

After the match, Sunrisers Captain Aiden Markram praised Henrich Klassen and Abhishek Sharma.

Markram said, “Credit to the way the team has responded. Klassy has been in great form, and Abhishek did the hard work early on. Klassy backs himself to play that way, good to see it pay off.”

He also said that Markande’s brilliant catch turned the game for the visitors.

“We needed wickets to get back in the game, the two were doing well and it needed a special catch from Mayank,” Markram added.

The skipper concluded by saying that the pitch was stopping a bit which helped them in the second innings. He praised the characters of the bowlers.

“Fortunately, the ball was stopping a bit and the bowlers showed great character to execute their spoils. This win will give great confidence, now we travel back home and try to build on this,” the SRH skipper concluded.
