Lucknow have the most balanced side: Virender Sehwag

Lucknow Super Giants will lock horns against the Sunrisers Hyderabad today at 7:30 PM. Lucknow won one while losing one match in the tournament. On the other hand, Sunrisers have played only one game and lost it badly against the Rajasthan Royals.

In both the matches of Lucknow, there was a lot of scrutiny over KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda. They have not performed well in both matches and will look to turn things around in this match.

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag thinks it’s a little early to be criticizing KL Rahul, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and all-rounder Deepak Hooda’s performance in the IPL 2023 season.

Virender Sehwag talks about KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda

Before LSG’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Virender Sehwag had the following to say to Cricbuzz:

“It’s too early to be concerned (about KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda’s form). Anyone can fail in a couple of games. It would be a concern if this continues for 5-6 games. But for now, I feel Lucknow have the most balanced side.”

Sehwag agreed that LSG should keep Kyle Mayers in the top spot even if Quinton de Kock was available for selection. After Mayers’ efforts in the first two games, he believes Lucknow just cannot afford to keep him off the team.

“I was pleasantly surprised with his (Mayers) second knock (against Chennai). If I am in that LSG camp, I will not even think of dropping him. I will continue to open with him for all the games. Even if I have to bring in De Kock, I will drop Stoinis and then play De Kock at No. 3.”

Wood will be eager to demonstrate his mettle when the Super Giants visit Lucknow again, according to Rajat Bhatia. In response, he said:

“Playing in Lucknow, the pitch we saw did aid the seamers up front and Mark Wood will be keen to find that rhythm after having an off-day in the previous game.”
