Lanning wins the battle against Mathews for the Orange Cap

Meg Lanning remained at the first position in the orange cap list of the Women’s Premier League 2023 after the match against Mumbai Indians. She was the lone scorer for the Delhi Capitals scoring 43 runs in the match. She is followed by Haley Mathews who scored 32 runs in the match. Shafali Verma has dropped down to the fourth position due to 2 low scores in the last 2 encounters.

Lanning hit a stunning knock of 72 off 43 balls against the RCB in their opening game. She helped Delhi win with a score of 70 runs off 42 balls in the second match. Today she scored another crucial knock of 43 runs. At 185 runs after Two half-centuries, Lanning now holds the orange hat as the player with the most runs scored in the competition.

Shafali Verma quickly collapsed after misreading an inside delivery from Ishaque. With the help of Issy Wong and Ishaque, Mumbai managed to stifle the run flow and confine Lanning to the crease.

In contrast to her 360-degree hitting plan in this event, she had little room to spread her arms out in the tight lines. Marizanne Kapp was promoted before Alice Capsey, but neither could significantly change the score or stabilize the Delhi innings.

Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues were able to put up a significant 50-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Ishaque was misread by the Indian hitter, who held back in an effort to better time the ball but ultimately missed and lost her off-stump.

In the match between Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz, Tahila McGrath moved up to sixth after her 90 against the Delhi Capitals. For the UP Warriorz, she was the lone wolf, and despite her best efforts, the UP brand failed to win.

Nat Sciver and MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur haven’t been needed by MI as the bulk of the scoring is done by the openers or the bowlers restrict the opposition to a below-par total.
