Karachi Kings (PSL 7) – Reservations and draft picks:

The Karachi Kings have never failed to make the playoffs since the inception of the PSL, but they have only won the trophy once. Ahead of PSL 7, the Karachi-based team decided to recalibrate their setup, handing over the captaincy to national team captain Babar Azam from Imad Wasim, who will continue to play for the team. Former England coach Peter Moores, who won two T20 Blast titles at Nottinghamshire, has been named head coach and they will take on champions Multan Sultan in their season opener.

Before the PSL 7 draft, the Karachi Kings retained eight players: B Azam, I Wasim, M Amir, M Nabi, Sharjeel Khan, Joe Clarke, Aamer Yamin and Mohammad Ilyas. With a top lineup and retaining two bowlers of international quality, the Karachi Kings entered the draft to fill the remaining spots. They first bought the C Jordan to tackle what was deadly bowling for them last year. Then they bought all-rounders L Gregory and Umaid Asif. Among the local players, they bought talented U-19 player Qasim Akram and left-arm wrist spinner Faisal Akram, who picked up Babar Azam’s wicket in the international practice net. Rohail Nazir was selected as the backup goalkeeper, while Mohammad Imran Jnr, left-arm quickie, was their wild card option. After their original picks T Abell and R Shepherd dropped out, they completed their roster by purchasing I Cockbain, T Lammonby and Jordan Thompson in the replacement draft. Overall batting appears to be their forte again, while their bowling offense lacks a full-fledged wrist spinner and their seasoned Pacers Amir and Jordan haven’t played a role over the past few years.

Karachi Kings (PSL 7) – Fantasy Cheat Sheet

Karachi Kings (PSL 7) – Stud

A player who has proven himself to be a top fantasy player and is basically popular.

“Azam” Babar. The current No.1 T20I batsman and the highest batsman in PSL history. He’s as consistent as anyone and having two dynamic hitters around him, Shagill and Joe Clarke, will allow him to run his business as usual.

Karachi Kings (PSL 7) – Banker

Players who provide good value to their credit and earn consistent returns.

Joe Clark – Expected to hit No. 3 for the Kings, Joe Clarke is ready to light up the PSL with his aggressive batting. He scored 419 points in 13 games in the BBL, which is a good performance. His wicket score was a bonus.

shajir khan- He has surpassed 200 points in all PSL seasons in which he has played more than one game. He enjoyed his best season last year, and with recent form on his side, he’s a solid fantasy option.

Miamir – His season last year was mediocre, taking just five wickets from 11 games, his lowest of any season in the PSL. While his recent form hasn’t inspired much confidence, he’s the Kings’ first choice death bowler, which should help his wickets.

Chris Jordan — Similar to Amir, he hasn’t been at his best for a while, but even so he managed to pack a wicket at the death. He is one of the top 10 deadliest wickets in all T20s since 2020, and his batting is likely to be exploited given the form of the Karachi Kings’ middle batsman.

Karachi Kings (PSL 7) – Sleeper

Offers players who are decent enough but are underrated or just aren’t well-known players.

Sahibzada Farhan – He was recently awarded PCB’s Domestic Cricketer of the Year for his performances in the domestic first-class, 50 and T20 matches. He’s the leading scorer in the 2021 National T20 Cup and will likely hit No. 4 for the Kings, where his spinning batting gear will help him score.

Karachi Kings (PSL 7) – Trap

A player who looks good, but won’t get enough points to be of much use.

Imad Wasim – His economy rate of 7.07 is the eighth-best in PSL history, which is great in the T20 scene among those with at least 20 pitches, but it doesn’t help that he picks up a wicket per 29 overs fantasy value. Nor did he hit the order hard enough to see it as a package.

Karachi Kings (PSL 7) – Risk Business

Players with risk factors, possibly due to poor form, injuries, lack of game time, etc…

Lewis Gregory — As a group, Gregory offers great value from a fantasy standpoint, but last year was his worst bat and ball in T20 cricket. His batting average of 122 and 10.3 economy in 2021 is the worst of his year in the T20, but everything suggests he can still count on getting some wickets, but his batting average is disappointing.

Mohammad Nabi – Similar to Gregory, Naby’s batting average has declined in recent years. He had just wrapped up a memorable BBL season in which he had just 36 points in seven games and a 5.1 average. Since his bowling is now game-specific, there isn’t much to exploit.

Muhammad Elias – He will likely occupy third place ahead of Umaid and Aamer. However, his performance in domestic competition is worrying, and with a plethora of all-rounders in the XI, there’s a good chance he won’t be able to fulfill his quota.

Karachi Kings (PSL 7) – Flex

A player with lower credit value but still offering some decent value, so helps balance the lineup.

Talha’a Mountain — He is the team’s only right-arm wrist spinner and the front-runner to occupy the emerging player position in Qasim Akram’s absence.

Kasim Akram — Powerful U-19 hitters offer good value for bat and ball and are light on the wallet.
