On Saturday, in the IPL match between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, the opening batsman of Rajasthan Royals, Yashasvi Jaiswal, made an explosive start by attacking the bowlers in the very first over of the game. Jaiswal, who has been associated with Rajasthan Royals for a few seasons was bought for a hefty sum of Rs. 2.4 crore in the year 2020. Despite being just 21 years old, Jaiswal has already accumulated 672 runs in the 26 innings he has played in the IPL so far. He wasted no time in showcasing his aggressive style of batting in the match on Saturday.

Jaiswal takes on Khaleen in the first over

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s explosive start in the IPL match against Delhi Capitals in Guwahati not only caught everyone’s attention, but he also made a record by scoring the most expensive first over in the IPL 2023 season. The left-handed opener of Rajasthan Royals- took the left arm pacer of Delhi Capitals, Khaleel Ahmed, to the cleaners by hitting him for five boundaries in the very first over of the game.

Jaiswal’s remarkable performance included a hat-trick of fours in the first over, which set the tone for his team’s eventual total of 199/4 in 20 overs. Jaiswal went on to play a vital inning of 60 runs off just 31 balls, displaying an array of attacking shots and helping Rajasthan Royals post a challenging total on the scoreboard.

Interestingly, the bowler who conceded the most expensive first over in IPL 2023 before Yashasvi Jaiswal’s record-breaking performance was once again Delhi Capitals’ left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed. In a match against Gujarat Titans on April 4, Khaleel had given away 14 runs in the very first over. Rajasthan eventually ended up winning the game by 57 runs and Jaiswal was awarded the Player of the Match for his amazing performance.
