The first-innings of Virat Kohli’s 100th Test match ended in despair for his passionate fans as the great batter was out for 45 in Mohali on Friday (March 4) against Sri Lanka.
Kohli shaped up to play another backfoot defensive push off left-arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya but was done in by the sharp turn on the delivery.
It isn’t that the trajectory or the length did him, as the right-hander has a tendency of successfully negotiating even the fuller lengths versus spin off the backfoot.
However, this ball turned away late from Kohli and disturbed his off-stump, triggering his departure after a promising effort at the crease.
But do you know, all this was predicted well before it took place by one of Virat Kohli’s fans on social media?

A fan predicts the fate of Virat Kohli’s knock with shocking accuracy
Much before Virat Kohli lost his wicket off Embuldeniya, a Twitter user going by the handle of @Quick_Single had predicted that he will score only 45 runs and will be dismissed by the left-arm spinner. The user also foresaw Kohli’s reaction to the dismissal, correctly predicting his look of shock towards the stumps.
Kohli Won’t score a 100 in his 100th test. Will score 45 (100) with 4 gorgeous cover drives and then Embuldeniya will knock his stumps over and he’ll pretend to be shocked ???????? and will nod his head in disappointment

This was the rarest of rare cricketing predictions to come true with such unerring precision. The only difference here perhaps is that Kohli didn’t face 100 but 76 deliveries and struck 5 and not 4 boundaries in his innings. But still, it was eye- catching how accurate this fan got the prediction in a tweet that later went viral.

Despite his downfall and the continuation of the century drought, however, Virat Kohli wouldn’t be excessively disappointed about his innings as he rode the challenge presented by Embuldeniya very well for most parts until being done in by an absolute peach.
Walking in at 80/2, Kohli shared an important stand of 90 runs for the third wicket with Hanuma Vihari, who enjoyed his promotion to No.3 with a finely compiled 58 off 128 deliveries, including 5 fours.
