I’m in a dark place-returning to Ben Stokes reveals the difficult time after injury

All-around player Ben Stokes admitted that after a finger injury, he was in a “really dark place with difficult ideas.”

The 30-year-old player joined their Ashes team after announcing that he was ready to return to cricket after a long break, which was a great encouragement to the England team.

Stokes missed the summer test series against India and also missed the ongoing T20 World Cup. He puts his mental health first and fully recovered his broken left index finger.

But after announcing that he was ready to rejoin the international cricket competition, he admitted that he had gone through some tough times mentally.

“I feel better about everything from my fingers to mental health,” Stokes said he was “buzzing” for the ashes, writing in his column for the Daily Mirror.

“I know I can focus again on playing my best cricket this winter.

“Until I sorted it for the second time, I might not realize how big a problem my fingers were. But I also struggled with bubble life and off-court events.

“I don’t want anyone to feel that way, because I’m not in a good situation, and I’m not afraid to admit it.

“I’m in a really dark place and have some difficult thoughts.”

Stokes was initially injured in the Indian Premier League in April, but despite undergoing surgery, the continued discomfort caused him to give up his comeback in late July.

The second surgery performed earlier this month removed two screws and scar tissue. He shot himself hitting a ball and bowling in the net, sparking speculation that Ashes will return this winter.

After his consultants and the England and Wales Cricket Committee’s medical team were all cleared, Stokes, after announcing that he would go down with the testing experts and supplementary Lions clubs, reported to captain Joe Root and head coach Chris. Silverwood welcomes November 4.

Stokes was England’s leading scorer in the 2019 series, 441 runs, averaging 55.12 points, including an unforgettable century of undefeated, helping Root’s team score in Headingley An extremely unlikely victory.

“Ben has proven time and time again that he is important to the England team. It is good news for all of us, especially Chris, Joe and other players, for him to participate in the Ashes Series.

“There has been no competition for a while, and we will proceed cautiously in the next few weeks to ensure that he is fully prepared in all aspects of the game.

“Before the very busy period of cricket, we will continue to pay attention to the pressure of all personnel. Our main focus is still the well-being of all players and support staff.”

England Test captain Joe Root was pleased with the news.

The Yorkshireman wrote on Twitter: “A great cricketer and a better guy. Welcome back, my friend.”

England’s first test against Australia is scheduled to begin in Brisbane on December 8, and the five-match series will end in Perth on January 18.
