Delhi Capitals will take on Mumbai Indians at their home stadium in New Delhi in an effort to win their first game of IPL 2023. Five-time IPL winners Mumbai are stuck in ninth place in the standings with 0 points. Most recently, they suffered a seven- wicket loss against Chennai Super Kings. Delhi is in a comparable situation, having gone three games without a victory and having a subpar net run rate of -2.092. The net run rate for the Indians is slightly better, at -1.394.

Rohit Sharma has won the toss and elected to field first. Rohit made 2 changes in the playing 11. Riley Meredith comes in for Stubbs.

Riley Rossouw not playing

David Warner has dropped the South African batter after poor outings in their last few games. He was replaced by an Indian young batter Yash Dhull. Dhull was the captain of the U-19 World Cup winning team. It will be interesting to see the young batter play. Khaleel was replaced by Mustafizur Rahman.

What did the captains say at the toss?

Warner: We would have done the same thing. For me it is about finding rhythm and as a whole group we gotta work harder and get sharper. We got a forced change, Khaleel Ahmed is injured and we got Yash Dhull in place of him. Also Rilee Rossouw makes way for Mustafizur Rahman. All the boys are up and about, we gotta adapt to the situations and pumped to be playing in front of the home ground.

Rohit: We will bowl first. We batted in the first 2 games, didn’t do well enough. The pitch looks dry and probably take some turn and dew might also be a factor tonight. We got Riley Meredith in place of Stubbs. The other changes is about the impact players. We will see how it goes. When the chips are down you need the senior players to stand up. Jofra is not available.
