Here’s the Reason Why is Quinton de Kock not playing today IPL Match 6 Against Chennai Super Kings?

The fifth game of the Indian Premier League is set to be played between KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants and Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. Lucknow Super Giants have won the toss and decided to bowl first in the game today. However, the match has been marred by the absence of Quinton de Kock for Lucknow Super Giants .

Quinton de Kock missing

On March 31 and April 2, the South African cricket team had played two crucial 50-over matches against the Netherlands as part of the ICC World Cup qualifiers. These games are of significant importance to the Proteas as they will determine whether or not they qualify for the upcoming World Cup. As a result, Quinton de Kockone of South Africa’s top players, will have to prioritize these matches over his commitments to the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Even though Lucknow Super Giants could have used the services of Quinton de Kock for their opening game, the batter had to miss the game due to national duty. LSG have played West Indies batter Kyle Mayers instead of de Kock who will open the innings with LSG captain KL Rahul. In de Cock’s absence, Nicholas Pooran will don the gloves behind the stumps.

When will De Kock be back?

Since South Africa’s series against the Netherlands has ended, it is expected that Quinton de Kock will join the LSG camp within the next couple of days. Thus, he will be available for selection from the next game. However, in his absence, the Lucknow Super Giants team have gone with Kyle Mayers to open the innings with captain KL Rahul. Mayers opened the innings in the last game as well where he smashed a quickfire 73 off 38 balls to set up LSG for a huge win in the first game. LSG won their last game by 50 runs.
