#HAARCB trends on Twitter as RCB loses against KKR

In yet another surprising encounter, Kolkata Knight Riders have comfortably defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 9 of the Indian Premier League at the Indian Premier League today. The defeat completely shattered the RCB fans who took to Twitter to express their feelings. What hurt them the most was the fact that the game was well under their control at one point and everything went down the line from then.

KKR put up 204

Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and decided to bowl first. RCB’s Englishman David Willey proved this decision correct by removing Venkatesh Iyer and Mandeep Singh on consecutive balls in the fourth over. Nitish Rana was soon to follow as KKR were 47 for reduced to 3 in 6.1 overs.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, KKR’s opener continued the strokeplay but soon fell prey to Karn Sharma. Andre Russell followed the very next ball and the match seemed in the perfect grip for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, Shardul Thakur had other plans. Thakur showed his cards from the very first ball as he started hitting boundaries left and right. Rinku Singh, his partner was playing the anchor role, trying to hold one end down. The duo put up 103 runs for the sixth wicket as Shardul scored 68 from 29 balls while Rinku Singh got 46 off 33. The duo played a pivotal role in taking KKR’s score to 204 from a point where it seemed like KKR might not even play all 20 overs.

Despite KKR scoring 204, fans were positive that RCB would be able to chase the score down with the firepower of Virat Kohli, Faf du PlessisGlenn Maxwell, and Michael Bracewell in the lineup. Virat and Faf started on an aggressive note. However, as soon as Kohli and Faf departed in consecutive overs, fans could no longer hold their anger inside. Fans and trolls alike took to Twitter and other social media platforms to express their thoughts on RCB’s fallout.

Twitter saw a spike in #HAARCB tweets, as the hashtag started trending on the micro-blogging site. Haar is a Hindi word that means defeat. The hashtag takes a dig at RCB’s habit of losing games from winning situations. Another hashtag that started trending on Twitter was VintageRCB. The fans started reminiscing about the time when RCB would lose games despite scoring huge scores in almost every other game.

RCB could only manage to get to 123 runs in 17.4 overs and ended up losing the game by 81 runs. The spin trio of Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and debutant Suyash Sharma absolutely dismantled the RCB batting lineup as they ended up picking 2, 4 and  3 wickets respectively.
